mjxoxoxo on 19/07/2008 at 5:00:45 PM Not to sound blonde... but this is an opera, not the movie version isn't it? bittersweet on 18/07/2008 at 12:58:02 AM this movie has kind of been out for a couple of years The movie kid on 12/07/2008 at 8:18:57 PM This is quite a bungle, confusing the commercial film with the La Scala moviecast, which here in the U.S. followed very hard on the heels of the Met moviecast. Having had the chance to hear the last two acts of this Tristan on BBC, I was pleasantly surprised by how still fresh the vocal estate of Waltraud Meier was. La Scala played like a team of angels for Barenboim, most likely just very near as well as they would or might have played this score under Muti. After some leathery sounds from Ian Storey during Act Two, I was not much looking forward to Act Three, but he sounded fine. DeYoung and Salminen repeated well from being also in the very fine Met moviecast, especially for deYoung, Robert Dean Smith, and James Levine and the very fine Dieter Dorn production. The Chereau production is expected to be hardly less fine, but make room for sure for the dvd release just this week of the Barenboim/Muller Tristan und Isolde from Bayreuth, again starring Waltruad Meier. Just for La Scala proving that there is no better orchestra for playing Wagner in the world, this moviecast of Tristan is also worth it. Trittico from the Met proves to have been one of the other five that I got to see, and considerably less interesting as a new production than either the Ronconi for La Scala was or the Met's Macbeth this past season. Just as only heard on the broadcast, the Met's La Boheme repeated here at theaters the night before our one-night showing of Trittico at one theater, was very shamefully amateurish and dreadful. David H Spence davehs_dusik on 11/07/2008 at 9:58:26 AM hasnt this already been released. gorjess on 2/07/2008 at 4:24:51 PM ummm why does it go for 4hours and 56mins?it could be an extended version of the previously release one? sparky on 28/06/2008 at 6:46:39 PM what's with the hellboy thing? LOL HyperCaz on 25/04/2008 at 10:42:05 AM i dont understand?!! soph_gal800 on 19/04/2008 at 11:14:27 AM I repeat: They're referring to the OPERA by Wagner, *not the film*. It's obviously a mistake on the part of the website maintainence :P See the page about "La Scala" in the Coming Soon section! Exceptionally Amy on 14/04/2008 at 7:04:35 PM yeah this came out ages... why is it coming out again? jiminey on 14/04/2008 at 9:30:39 AM
